Preserve first, compound next
We believe markets are cyclical, and that cycles create pricing dislocations and inefficiencies that a disciplined, repeatable process can identify and respond to. Our first objective is the preservation of capital; compounding follows from surviving conditions that force others to liquidate.
The process is rules-based with human oversight. Risk is bounded ex-ante through pre-set parameters — decided before positions exist — rather than through after-the-fact discretion.
The structure of the platform
- A quantitative system. Signals, sizing, and hedging are governed by systematic rules applied consistently across market conditions.
- Macro research. A research program spanning geopolitical, economic, macro, sector, credit, and risk coverage informs the regimes the system operates in.
- An institutional operating platform. Institutional-grade infrastructure and controls support execution, oversight, and governance.
Regime-aware, research-led
Research at Britannica is about understanding conditions, not predicting headlines. We study how growth, inflation, policy, and positioning interact — and how those interactions have historically repriced liquid markets.
Research informs the system; it does not override it. Ideas enter the portfolio only after they survive quantitative validation, and only within pre-set risk parameters.
Ideas are cheap. Surviving validation is expensive. Only what survives is traded.
Liquid, listed, bounded
- Universe. Liquid, listed, large-cap exposure in the US, with selective European and emerging-market exposure.
- Instruments. Exchange-traded only. No illiquid or OTC instruments.
- Risk. Systematic risk management and hedging across changing market conditions, bounded ex-ante by pre-set parameters.
- Oversight. Human oversight governs the system's operation; discretion does not override its rules after the fact.
Tested before trusted
Every rule in the system earns its place through evidence: robust data, scientific method, and rigorous testing. Models are re-examined as conditions change, and the same discipline that admits a rule can retire it.
The specific construction of our signals, parameters, and hedging mechanics is proprietary and is not disclosed.
Discipline is the edge
Many market participants have information. Fewer have a process that behaves the same way under stress as it does in calm. We believe our edge is the combination of research depth and systematic execution — a process designed to act on evidence when it is easiest to act on emotion.
